Admissions

Admissions is an administrative department at every university that provides the rules and process for applying and registering at a given institution. The key information they provide are admissions requirements, when the school semesters start and end, application deadlines, academic offerings and transcripts.

Applications and Forms

You can apply to university using conventional documentation and standard mail delivery or you can apply online. Applications vary for undergraduate, graduate, international students and other specialized departmental applications. (ie. law school, medical school, etc.). In order to be able to visit a university you are interested in studying or applying, obtaining directions to campus is a good idea especially if you are from out of town. universities/colleges usually provide driving directions and also how to reach the university from the local airport. Depending on the local geography other means of transport like the Ferry for example would be provided. Directions from the United States is often made available.

Information for France Students


Athletics


The athletics department of a university can be responsible for varsity sports, sports facilities, fitness memberships, medical clinics and campus recreation. If you're interested in any of the university college teams there is usually extensive information provided in the form of stats and upcoming games.

Career Services

The general mission of a career services department in a university is to provide guidance and resources so that students can achieve their career goals. This is usually done in the form of career counselling and advising. Often this department partners with staff, alumni and employers in the community to help students realize their career goals.

France Financial Aid & Scholarships

Financial aid, which help defray the cost of university is a term that covers the area of student loans, awards, scholarships, boursaries, grants, fellowships, etc. Most universities/colleges will have a department focused on financial aid for students. Financial aid is usually based on merit (academic and athletics) or need (financial need). Also individual departments in a university will often list the available scholarships specific to that program.

Off Campus Housing

Residence

Residence in university has a long tradition. Not everyone who attends a university chooses to live in residence but those who do generally have done better academcally because statistically they are more likely to gradaute from university. Living close to campus keeps you more focused and you don't have to worry about furnishing your room, making your meals and travelling to campus everyday.

Student Life in France

Student life at a university are the services that an institution provides that helps support a student during the time they are studying at a university. Student life can also encompass areas such as health and wellness, career, campus involvment, fitness, entertainment, clubs, getting around your new city, and other support services. Student life also covers basics from parking fees, buying textbooks, getting a student card and other campus neccessities.

Student Union

The student union at a university is essentially the student government or student council. They are a student's organization that can be found at most colleges and universities/colleges. The purpose of student union is to represent the students's views and needs within the university. They are also responsible for providing a variety of services to students. Many of these organizations are highly political and are where future politicians of Canada start their training.
